What Kids Say
The Children’s Foundation improves the lives of disadvantaged children by eliminating the financial barriers that hinder their access to programs that enrich their lives and help them reach their full potential.
School Trips:
“I wish to thank you for making the Grade 8 trip possible through your generous funding. Both boys were able to participate in an event with their classmates that would not have been possible without your funding. We are very fortunate to have the Children’s Foundation in Guelph to support students who most need it. The looks on their faces during the trip said it all.”
“We went to Ottawa for 4 days. We did such things from museums to cave exploring. My favourite part was exploring the caves and Laurier House. THEY WERE AWESOME!!!”
“I’m really thankful that I’ll be able to go on the Quebec trip. I wasn’t sure I could go due to my Dad’s work are having some problems. It will be enjoyable to see old buildings & since I like history I’ll know more about Quebec and Canada . I’m looking forward to it.”
“I am very luck to know now that there are people out there like you who are able to let children experience and not be excluded or left out of something that they very well deserve. I would just like to thank you from the bottom of my heart that you let me have this amazing trip in Quebec that I can now remember forever!!!”
Camps:
From the kids:
“ I want to thank you for donating money for me to go to camp this summer. I loved it there and you should go sometime too. I did lots of fun things like crafts, canoeing, swimming and I met a new friend Emma.”
“I liked going to camp because there I just can be myself and I can talk to my friends and the counselors about anything. I have so many special memories, playing games at night, riding the horses. I was scared but it was fun. It’s like having one BIG sleepover.”
“Camp is one of the best things about summer time. I met a lot of new and interesting people. It is a great experience! Camping out at Guelph Lake for four days was my favourite experience. Next year I’m going to be a counselor.”
“My favourite part of this experience is that I got to learn history stories and facts that I never heard before. I did Inuit art of all types like printmaking, totem poles, and how to make our very own dreamcatchers.”
From the parents:
“James was ‘over the moon’ and ‘couldn’t stop talking’ about his week at camp. We had no idea how he would fit in but he found himself a comfortable place and has found FRIENDS which is huge for him.”
“Thank you. You made my daughter very happy.”
“I want you to know you have made a difference in a little boy’s life this summer by sending him to camp. By doing so, you have brought hope and encouragement to a family that faces significant challenges.”
“My daughter was liked and accepted by all the kids – her self esteem and self confidence has been restored.”
Art & Music lessons:
"Thank you for supporting my son in his piano lessons. He seems to have an amazing gift for music, and some opportunities have begun to open up for him. With your assistance, some of these will actually be attainable”
“On behalf of the staff and students, I would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for your generous donation to allow all our students to participate in the Edward Johnson Music Foundation performing arts program.”
Sports:
“I got to have fun, learn, and meet new friends. Sometimes learn how to do cartwheels. I liked jumping from the little bar to the big bar.”
“Soccer was very important to my son since his school currently does not have a gym. He is hyperactive and finds it necessary to have the focus and teamwork of sports in order to grow. We were very grateful for the much needed help.”
“Thank you for giving my family money. I really appreciated it because I scored 2 goals!! I made a lot of friends. This season was awesome. My dad enjoyed being the official time and score keeper. The coaches were nice.”
Scholarships:
“I would like to thank you for awarding me the Stephen Promoli Memorial Scholarship. I am studying social work at Fanshawe College and I hope in future to help children in a similar situation to myself.”
“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for awarding me the Stephen Promoli Memorial Scholarship. In grade nine, I had a fifty per cent average. I never thought I’d make it. Now I’m in university.”
